Student Leadership Program
YWCA Victoria has hosted University Student Placements consistently since 2003, hosting students from health, policy, advocacy, politics and marketing courses. During these placements, YWCA Victoria aims to provide young women who are about to enter the professional workforce with a meaningful experience where they have major responsibility for a project that contributes to the organisations advocacy, policy or program portfolios. Read the blog posts written by some of our talented students here.
In 2008, YWCA Victoria formally acknowledged the contribution of students by implementing a Student Leadership Awards Program. We are now developing our Student Leadership Program further to promote YWCA Victoria as a Community Organisation placement of choice for students, including Undergraduate, Masters and PhD students.
As part of the Student Leadership Program, each year one student will be presented with a financial contribution to assist with their University fees. This contribution is donated by YWCA Victoria Life Members.
In the past, students have undertaken projects on our reproductive health rights campaign, positive body image campaigns, our campaign to end violence against women, and supported us in International Women’s Day activities. There are also opportunities to assist the organisation with advocacy events and activities, research, development and marketing.
YWCA Victoria has offices in metropolitan Melbourne, Bendigo and Geelong.
