YWCA Victoria is committed to respecting the privacy of your personal information.

YWCA Victoria is bound by the Federal Privacy Act 1988, the Victorian Information Privacy Act 2000 and the Health Records Act 2001 and by the Privacy Principles these Acts contain.  These principles establish the benchmark for how personal information should be handled.  These principles have been embraced by YWCA Victoria as part of its operating procedures.

YWCA Victoria collects and holds personal information about members, hotel guests, users of its facilities, people to whom we provide services, and suppliers.  The type of information we collect includes names and addresses, and in some cases health information, emergency contact information, and financial information, but only where necessary and appropriate to provide services.

The main purpose for which our organisation holds information is to conduct business activities and to provide services to our members and to the broader community in accordance with our charter.

All personal and identifying information will be considered to be confidential and will not be given out to others unless an agreed release form has been completed  or informed consent has been given or unless we are required by law to disclose this information.

It is the policy of our organisation that all requests for access be made in writing.  Our Privacy Officer will arrange for an access form to be sent to you and can assist with any enquiries you may have about the process.

Our organisation will respond to all requests for access within 45 days and, in most cases, will be able to respond well before that time.
