The Asista Program
Asista is one of YWCA Victoria’s most popular program, and at sixteen years, its longest. The mentoring program matches young women, often from difficult backgrounds, with a volunteer female mentor who offers friendship, support and fun.
Recently, we have recruited a new group of participants which is very exciting- hopefully we can facilitate some long term, meaningful relationships!
In addition, we recently gathered to celebrate the New Year and to celebrate our Class of 2015. We had a wonderful day of food, drinks, fun and slight sadness bidding some of our participants farewell.
February brought us our Community Day at the YWCA Rowing Club. The Rowing Club has been in existence since 1910 and is situated on beautiful Albert Park Lake. All mentors and mentees had the opportunity to learn the secrets of rowing from Australia's Womens National Champions.
Asista’s next group activity is the Community Day on July 30th at Monash University where the Robotgal team will be teaching our Asista ladies how to build a small robot. Exciting stuff! Stay tuned. For more information on the program and how to participate, visit here.
