Bendigo is one of Victoria’s largest municipalities with a population of 92,000 people. Bendigo is located 150km north west of Melbourne.
The YWCA Victoria runs programs and services in Bendigo and the YWCA facilities are used by many community groups in the City of Bendigo.
The Bendigo School Holiday Program
The YWCA runs the Bendigo School Holiday Program every school holiday period. A high quality variable program is provided in a welcoming and safe environment for primary school children from 8am to 6pm daily by fully qualified staff.

Eligibility To access the Bendigo School Holiday program, parents need to be:
- working
- participating in a form of education or
- have a child with disabilities for priority access.
Places At present, we are legally able to accept 45 children daily.
Cost The Bendigo School Holiday program receives government funding and many families also receive Child Care Benefits, making the program very affordable.
Standards The Bendigo School Holiday Program works within State and Federal Government standards, guidelines and YWCA Victoria policies. The ratio of children to staff is:
- 1 to 15 at the centre
- 1 to 8 on excursions
- 1 to 5 for swimming
- Extra care givers are provided for our children with special needs.
Staff All staff are qualified with
- relevant childcare certificates or current experienc
- First Aid
- great communication skills
- police and working with children checks
