Looking for a new challenge?

YWCA Victoria is looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers, to be involved in supporting young women, mentoring, events, administration, advocacy, fundraising, newsletter publication and a range of other opportunities that support the work of YWCA Victoria. Volunteering at YWCA Victoria is a challenging and satisfying experience that can connect you with a community of women or provide work experience. Volunteering can also assist you to develop your personal and professional skills.

Want to get involved?

1. Complete the expression of interest/application form and send it to us at ywca@ywca.net or 141 Leicester Street Carlton. Depending on the program area in which you are volunteering you may also be required to undergo a police check.
2. Volunteers will be contacted and may be asked to attend some training sessions.
3. Volunteers may be required to attend an induction session.

The contribution of volunteers has been vital to the success of the YWCA. Over the years, thousands of women across Victoria have volunteered their time and energy to help run YWCA services and programs and campaign for the rights of women.

Volunteering activities have been diverse; from factory visits and delivering meals to working women to organising clubs and fundraising functions, from artists in residence to conference guest speakers - women have come together under YWCA Victoria’s banner, contributing to the growth and development of a vibrant community that respects the equality of women.

Volunteers help with YWCA fundraising, developing policy and campaigning, general administration, mentoring and events.

Student Leadership Program

YWCA Victoria has hosted University Student Placements consistently for the past 6 years, hosting students from health, policy, advocacy, politics and marketing courses.  During these placements, YWCA Victoria aims to provide young women who are about to enter the professional workforce with a meaningful experience where they have major responsibility for a project that contributes to the organisations advocacy, policy or program portfolios.

In 2007, YWCA Victoria formally acknowledged the contribution of students by implementing a Student Leadership Awards Program.  In 2009, we are further developing the Student Leadership Program to promote YWCA Victoria as a Community Organisation placement of choice for students, including Undergraduate, Masters and PhD students.

As part of the Student Leadership Program, each year one student will be presented with a financial contribution to assist with their University fees.  This contribution is donated by YWCA Victoria Life Members.

In the past, students have undertaken projects on our reproductive health rights campaign, our campaign to end violence against women, and supported us in International Women’s Day activities.  There are also opportunities to assist the organisation with International No Diet Day activities, research, development and marketing.

YWCA Victoria has offices in metropolitan Melbourne, Bendigo and Geelong.
