YWCA Unites to Better Serve Girls and Young Women!
On Saturday Nov 19th 2016, representatives of the 12 YWCAs of Australia signed a Statement of Intent to unite to better serve young women, women and girls across Australia.
The statement includes the vision for the future of the YWCA in Australia, the key features of the potential restructured organisation, and the key conditions that will need to be met in order for a restructure to progress.
Attributes of the intended unified YWCA will include: an affiliation to the World YWCA, voting women members drawn from diverse communities around Australia and an overall vision of achieving gender equality through advancing young women’s leadership, accessible housing and safety & empowerment for women.
The 12 Associations, including YWCA Victoria have committed to use their best endeavours to unite and form a strong, single, national voice for gender equality and an effective, trusted provider of services for women and girls across Australia.
