ASISTA Mentoring

In operation for over fifteen years, the ASISTA Mentoring Program matches young women with a volunteer female mentor who offers support, friendship and fun to the mentee along her path to independence.

ASISTA provides all volunteers with strong, ongoing support, training and supervision.

The program, funded through the Department of Health and Human Services, encourages personal development, new experiences and opportunities for young women and their mentors through fortnightly social and recreational activities.

The young women in the ASISTA Mentoring program are aged between 12 and 18 and have involvement with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Child Protection system. These young women may not have strong family or community supports due to a range of complex issues.

Interested in becoming an ASISTA Mentor?

Mentors are asked to commit to the program for a minimum of 12 months, with a requirement of 2-6 hours fortnightly face-to-face contact with your mentee. It is also essential to have a drivers licence and access to a car.

Register your interest here and a member of our team will be in touch to chat further.

You can also contact our team with any questions about the program at asista@ywca.net

We have education and training scholarships for current or past ASISTA mentees.  Click here for more information. Click here for application form.
