YWCA Housing

About YWCA Housing

YWCA Victoria believes that the provision of affordable housing is a foundation for ending inequality for women.

YWCA Housing is the subsidiary company of the YWCA Victoria and is a registered Housing Provider under the Housing Act 1983.

We manage a portfolio of long to medium term housing properties through-out metropolitan Melbourne and Geelong, providing close to 100,000 nights annually of affordable accommodation for women on low incomes.

Housing options for women include standalone properties and shared rooming house accommodation.

While unaffordable housing affects everyone, women are more at risk due to gender-based financial inequality, family violence, discrimination and disability. Of the 23,000 homeless Victorians, over 9,800 are women and rates for homeless women are growing at a faster rate to men. Family violence is a key issue with over 70% of women applying with YWCA Housing indicating they had experienced family violence.

YWCA Housing's key focus is the development and acquisition of affordable housing solutions for women in Victoria, while continuing to provide assistance and support to the 240+ women we currently house each night.
